FAQ

Honest answers.

If your question isn't here, call or text — we answer those too, free.

The business

What does the lifetime guarantee actually cover?

Our workmanship — for as long as you own the home. If a connection we made, a panel we installed, or a circuit we ran ever fails because of how we did the work, we fix it free. Parts carry their manufacturer warranties.

What does "flat rate pricing" mean?

Every job has a set price, quoted before work starts. No hourly meter running while someone looks for parts. The quote you approve is the invoice you receive.

How fast do you reply?

Typically within 15 minutes during business hours — that's our actual Google-tracked response time, not a marketing claim. We're open 7 days until 9 PM.

Are you verified and background-checked?

Yes — both, through Google's verification program. The "background check passed" badge on our Google profile is Google's, not ours: they verify the business, licensing, and insurance independently.

Do you give free estimates?

For most standard jobs, yes — many can be quoted from photos over text. Tap "Get quote" on our Google profile or text us pictures of the job.

When is an electrical problem urgent?

Burning smells, sparks, hot outlets, and a buzzing panel — call right away and we'll prioritize you. Flickering lights and dead outlets are usually safe to book as a same-day or next-day appointment.

The work

Should I flip the main breaker off?

If you smell burning or see sparks — yes, and call us from outside if the smell is strong. We'll confirm the right move for your exact situation on the phone.

Is a buzzing panel serious?

A loud buzz or crackle is arcing — that's serious. A faint hum from a breaker under heavy load can be normal. Call and describe it; we'll tell you honestly which one you have.

Why does my breaker keep tripping?

Overload, short circuit, or ground fault — in that order of likelihood. An overload means too much on one circuit. A short or ground fault means damaged wiring or a failed device. We can tell which from how it trips.

Are my old two-prong outlets dangerous?

They're ungrounded, which matters for anything with a three-prong plug. Depending on your wiring we can ground them properly or install GFCI protection — code-legal either way.

How do I know if I have a dangerous panel?

Open the door and read the brand. Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) and Zinsco panels have documented histories of breakers failing to trip during faults. If you have one, get it evaluated — that's not upsell, that's the fire data.

Do I need 200A for an EV charger?

Often, but not always — a load calculation tells us. Sometimes a load-management device lets your existing service handle it for far less money. We check before quoting the big job.

Which charger should I buy?

If you have a Tesla, the Tesla Wall Connector. Otherwise ChargePoint and Emporia are reliable and work with everything. Buy the charger yourself online — we'll install whatever you choose and tell you honestly if a model is a bad pick.

Hardwired or plug-in?

Hardwired is cleaner, slightly faster, and required above 48A. A 14-50 outlet gives flexibility if you might move the charger. Both are code-legal when installed properly.

Is knob-and-tube actually dangerous?

Intact, unmodified knob-and-tube can be serviceable — but after 100 years it's rarely unmodified, and buried under insulation it's a fire risk. Most insurers won't cover it. We'll tell you what you actually have.

Can you put a fan where there's only a light?

Usually yes — the box gets replaced with a fan-rated one anchored to structure. Standard job for us, and the #1 thing handymen skip.

Why do my LED lights flicker on the dimmer?

Old incandescent dimmers and LED bulbs don't speak the same language. A $30 LED-rated dimmer fixes it — five-minute install, no more disco.

Can you install a fan where there's only a light?

Usually yes — the box must be replaced with a fan-rated one anchored to structure. That's a standard job for us and the #1 thing handymen skip.
